Warehouse settings

You can define different types of settings for a warehouse: status, stock management, stock valuation, minimum or maximum stock, etc. This chapter presents available PANTHEON settings for warehouses using the example of Tecta Warehouse BAR.

CASE SUMMARY

Warren Warehouse, Tecta Warehouse Manager, wants to define the settings for the Warehouse BAR. This is a retail warehouse for products sold at the Tecta in-house bar. The warehouse has a quantity and value managed stock. The person responsible wants to enable the stock to be issued even if the warehouse in the program shows no stock.

General information on the warehouse can be found in the Subjects register, which is accessible from the menu Settings | Subjects | Subjects or by pressing the key F11.

HINT

In the panel Subject status, the warehouse status is selected. When a warehouse is created, the status is automatically set to Active. For descriptions of the other statuses, see the chapter Subjects – General information.

When the checkbox Warehouse in the Subjects register is checked, the warehouse settings panel opens.

WARNING

If the checkbox Warehouse in the Subjects register is not checked, the warehouse will not be displayed on PANTHEON documents, because the subject will not be categorized as a warehouse.

The person responsible for the Warehouse BAR checks the checkbox Stock tracking. This will allow the quantity of items to be kept in the warehouse stock.

For accounting purposes, the checkbox Post at retail price is checked, which enables posting with the appropriate price category.

To enable that the items are issued even if the warehouse shows no stock in the program, the person responsible checks the checkbox Allow negative stock.

HINT

For more information about the checkboxes in the panel Warehouse, see the following chapters:

In addition to the keeping track of quantity, the stock in the warehouse is also tracked in terms of value. For this purpose, the person responsible selects P - Average purchase prices from the drop-down list of the field Stock valuation.

HINT

For more information on stock valuation methods, see the chapter explaining the valuation methods.

The panel also shows the date of the Last inventory count. By clicking the button Current stock, the current stock of the warehouse is displayed.

In this case, the last inventory count was done on 3. 05. 2022.
