Predefined Ad-Hoc analyses

Ad-Hoc analyses in PANTHEON are designed for business analytics without using OLAP server or OLAP cubes. They are performed based on a user-defined SQL statement containing the measurements and data dimensions. They can be used to create pivot tables according to your needs. In PANTHEON, predefined Ad-Hoc analyses are available that make it easy to get started with Ad-Hoc analyses.

This chapter presents the process of transferring the predefined Ad-Hoc analyses from the server and an example of how to use them.

CASE SUMMARY The person responsible at Tecta wants to use a predefined Ad-Hoc analysis to analyze sales data for current and last year. This is done as follows: Transferring predefined Ad-Hoc analyses from the server Using a predefined Ad-Hoc analysis

1. Transferring predefined Ad-Hoc analyses from the server

Before using Ad-Hoc analyses, the person responsible first needs to transfer them from the server.

In the navigation bar, the person responsible opens the menu Settings | Program |Ad-Hoc analyses.

This opens a blank window Ad-hoc analyses.

The person responsible clicks the toolbar button (Import/export data).

From the menu, the person responsible selects Transfer analyses.

The window for transferring Ad-Hoc analyses opens.

Clicking the button Transfer from server displays the available predefined analyses.

The person responsible checks the two available analyses and clicks the button Transfer into register.

The analyses are transferred to the Ad-hoc analyses register.

The person responsible can now use the predefined analyses.

2. Using a predefined Ad-Hoc analysis

The person responsible wants to analyse sales data for the current and last year.

The predefined Ad-Hoc analysis has already been transferred from the server.

In the navigation bar, the person responsible Analytics | Ad-Hoc analyses and clicks the analysis Sales report current and last year.

This opens the window Ad-Hoc analyses - Sales report current and last year.

The person responsible edits the data in the pivot table using drag and drop.

To show Gross margin for 2021 by customer, the person responsible

starts editing the rows and columns of the pivot table.

First, the person responsible uses drag and drop to move the field Customers to the Y-axis.

Then, the person responsible removes the fields Quantity, Packages, Value and Gross from the table.

HINT The analysis can be exported to an Excel file. See the instructions in the chapter Creating an Ad-Hoc analysis under "Exporting the Ad-Hoc analysis to Excel".
