Licensing and Product Keys

Licenciranje in serijske številke

Licensing and Product Keys

To run PANTHEON you need a valid license. It can be retrieved from Datalab's server after a correct product key is entered.

000001.gif Improper licensing or breach of license agreement terms may incur severe penalties. By law, the legal entity and the person responsible are penalized, and a penalty of up to three times the value of licenses in question is due!

Demo Version

The installation comes with a demo product key which allows a limited use of PANTHEON. All features are available in the demo version but it allows a limited number of documents: 100 orders, 100 journal entries, 100 cash receipts and disbursements, 10 salary calculations, and 200 movements. After this limit has been reached, no further documents can be entered. The demo version allows only one concurrent user.

The demo version can freely be upgraded to a new version.

000001.gif You can use the demo version for the initial deployment of PANTHEON. Start entering data as normal and when your reach the document limit purchase a license and change the product key.

Full Version

The full version has no upper document limit. It is acquired by purchasing a license for Datalab PANTHEON.

000001.gif Activate the full version by entering the registered user and product key in the panel Installation in the Administration Panel.

There are four types of deployments according to the organization structure.

They are listed below:

Company on One Site

16796.png

This is the simplest type of deployment where all computers in a local network are connected to the same database.

Here only one product key is required.

A license breakdown for such a company would be:

License breakdown for company: ACME Ltd.
Site: ACME Ltd. Product key: 999999
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 3 pcs
Total licenses: 3 pcs

Company on Multiple Sites

16810.png

Companies with multiple sites (in this example, the head office and branch offices) that have no permanent connection to the central database (this is regarded as a company on one site) require that each site has its own server with a copy of the database.

Such a company needs as many product keys as it has sites. Each site must have as many licenses as there will be concurrent users.

000001.gif The Upgrade Agreement is concluded once per company and includes all sites!

A license breakdown for such a company would be:

License breakdown for company: ACME Ltd.
Site: ACME Ltd. - HQ Product key: 999910
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 3 pcs
Site: ACME Ltd. - Site 1 Product key: 999111
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 2 pcs
Site: ACME Ltd. - Site 2 Product key: 999112
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 1 pcs
Total licenses: 6 pcs

000001.gif If a company like the one described above does not have multiple sites or is using the same product key on multiple sites, it is regarded as a breach of licensing terms for Datalab PANTHEON. See Change Product Key for detailed treatment on how to change the product key!

Multiple Companies on One Site

16811.png

There are cases when multiple companies share one server, like subsidiaries or holding companies. Licensing can be arranged in two ways:

Unlimited User Access

To set for users to be able to switch freely between databases (i.e. N users have access, regardless how they are distributed among companies), enter the same product key for all databases. The server will allow access only to as many users as there are licenses obtained. For example, Company 1 can use all 8 licenses (if necessary), preventing software use for other companies.

A license breakdown for such a company would be:

License breakdown for company: ACME Ltd.
Site: HQ Product key: 999910
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 8 pcs
Total licenses: 8 pcs

The databases would be laid out as follows:

Company Database Product Key
Company 1 Database 1 9999910
Company 2 Database 2 9999910
Company 3 Database 3 9999910
Company 4 Database 4 9999910
Company 5 Database 5 9999910

Limited User Access

User access can be limited to a single company or a group of companies. For example, in the above deployment layout Company 1 should use a maximum of 3 licenses, Company 2 one license, and Companies 3, 4 and 5 shall share 4 licenses.

As companies are individual entities, there have to be multiple databases on the server - one for each company.

In this case, there have to be as many product keys as there are groups of companies that share licenses. Each group of companies should have as many licenses as there will be concurrent users.

The characteristic of this type of licensing is that there can be only as many concurrent users as there are licenses for a specific product key, regardless how the licenses are distributed among companies.

000001.gif The Upgrade Agreement is concluded separately for each product key!

A license breakdowns for such a company would be:

License breakdown for company: Company 1
Site: HQ Product key: 999910
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 3 pcs
Total licenses: 3 pcs

License breakdown for company: Company 2
Site: HQ Product key: 999111
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 1 pcs
Total licenses: 1 pcs

License breakdown for company: Company 3
Site: HQ Product key: 999112
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 4 pcs
Total licenses: 4 pcs
Maximum number of concurrent users on server: 8

The databases would be laid out as follows:

Company Database Product Key
Company 1 Database 1 9999910
Company 2 Database 2 9999911
Company 3 Database 3 9999912
Company 4 Database 4 9999912
Company 5 Database 5 9999912

Accounting Firms with Terminal Access

Accounting firms can use a combination of SE/ME/MF and LT editions, if their clients connect to the databases through a terminal server.

16815.png

000001.gif If you are interested in this type of deployment, contact your DataLab partner who will issue you appropriate product keys. In this case, different PANTHEON editions have to be bound to one product keys, which is otherwise not possible. DataLab performs this only upon user request. The user has to be registered as an accounting firm and perform the related services. Mixing different PANTHEON editions under one product key is possible only for accounting firms.

A license breakdown for such a company would be:

License breakdown for company: Accounting Firm
Site: Company - HQ Product key: 999999
PASISE001 PANTHEON SE 3 pcs
PASILT001 PANTHEON LT 7 pcs

000001.gif When using PANTHEON this way, the edition has to be specified in the command line. For more information see Command Line Parameters.
