Enter Serial Numbers

There are various types of serial numbers. For more information see Why Use Serial Numbers?.

Use the Serial Number Templates and select Enter Ser. No. to determine serial numbers or their specific parts.

  • If you do not specify any information in the panel, a transparent serial number which cannot exceed 100 characters will be used.
  • Otherwise, set type of serial number and maximum length allowed:

Line Displays consecutive number of line. Line numbers are assigned automatically in the ascending order. You can change field value at will, but you have to confirm this operation.
Len Determines length of serial number part (No. of characters).
Text Enter any text desribing a serial number segment. It is displayed under types of serial number (for more information see Items | Serial Numbers).
Len Determines length of serial number (No. of characters) which is used in types of serial number (for more information see Items | Serial Numbers).
Fill Character Enter a character used to represent a specific serial number segment. Use it together with the Align field (see next).
For example: Let us say that you will use leading zeroes to delimit individual serial number segments. Enter fill character "0" and select right alignment (see above).
Align Select type of alignment for a specific serial number segment:
  • Left - The entered serial number is left-aligned. If the serial number in question falls short of the prescribed length, characters from the Fill Character fill the empty spaces (see above).
  • Right - The entered serial number is right-aligned. If the serial number in question falls short of the prescribed length, characters from Fill Character fill the empty spaces (see above).
  • Center - The entered serial number is centered. If the serial number in question falls short of the prescribed length, characters from Fill Character fill the empty spaces (see above).
  • No Alignment - Data is not aligned and the empty spaces are not filled with characters from the Fill Character field.
Mandatory If checked, it is mandatory to enter a serial number. If you must enter a specific part of serial number and you fail to do so, an error is returned (for more information see Serial number must be entered in line XXX!).
Internal Check it, if this segment is used internally (for example: in the Customs Warehouse module).
Message Enter message text which is displayed after running SQL Control statement which returns an error.
SQL Select Statement
  • A serial number segment must by default be entered manually (according to the settings of individual lines). Here you can choose between two methods of filling in serial number segment:
    • SQL Select Statement Specifying an SQL Select statement, offers a selection table when trying to enter serial number segment. Here you can select preset data.
      For example: Let us say that you defined for line 1 above to generate data from column 3 from the columns table on entering the initial serial number segment. To put it differently, the column including data about color (for more information see Product Variants).

    • 46807.gif
    •
    • SQL Statement for Default Values Specifying an SQL statement for assigning default values, offers default value from database after specifying value for this serial number segment.
      For example: Let us say that the second text field from Items | Custom Fields is entered by default in line 3 above.
    •

SQL Control Statement Running an SQL Control statement to verify serial number, returns T (successful) or F (failed).
The following parameters are used:
SERIALNO = serial number
IDENT = item ID
PREJEMNIK = receiving warehouse
IZDAJATELJ = issue warehouse
KLJUC = document ID
POZ = line
TIP = type
KOLICINA = quantity
RAZLIKA = entered quantity - old quantity (difference)
For example: Let us say that you specify an SQL Control statement to verify line 3 above:

Below you can observe an error message which is returned if a record does not exist in the register:
