Datalab Applications

The Datalab Applications panel allows you to set permissions on the main authorizations tree, where all users are listed.

The form can be accessed by clicking the Security panel from the Administration Panel.

The form is made up of certain elements, which are described below.

Table of contents

  1. Filters
  2. Users permission tree

1. Filters

In this section, you can use function of filterring or searching to display users and groups according to the selected permission.

None

If checked, the user permissions tree shows users with None permission type.

This means that ther user has no permissions to access the feature and any such features are hidden from the user.

Read

If checked, the user permissions tree shows users with Read permission type.

The user can only read data and cannot write or modify it.

Write

If checked, the user permissions tree shows users with Write permission type.

The user can read, write and change data, but cannot delete it.

Delete

If checked, the user permissions tree shows users with Delete permission type.

The user can read, write, change end delete data. The user has full permissions.

Show All If checked, the user permissions tree shows all users, regardless of the permissions.
Active user

If checked (), in users permission tree is shown only active users.

Inactive users are displayed in red.

HINT

Users with Undefined permissions are not displayed and can be added by keyboard combination of CTRL+Insert. The Principals form is opened.

Add undefined

Clicking the buttons opens the Principals form for selecting users with undefined permissions and adding permissions.

User

From the drop-down list, select the user you want to see or whose permisions you want to edit.

By clicking on  button, Search by form is opened, where you can search or multiselect users.

WARNING

Removing permissions from a user can be done with CTRL+DELETE keyboard combination.

When removing/deleting user permissions, be careful NOT to remove permissions for all users and groups. In this case, you may find yourself locked out of the program and you will no longer be able to log into PANTHEON. Read more in the chapter General (see Apply button).

2. User permissions tree

Displays the users and groups in a tree structure and their permissions settings. Assigned authorizations for the currently selected option (you can select it using the above-mentioned filter) are displayed.

Name

User name of the user for program login.

HINT

The username is preceded by a permission icon, which is set on the right side. Each type of permission has its own icon:

  •  - None
  •  - Read
  •  - Write
  •  - Delete

Title

Name of the user.

Inherited from parent

Permissions are inherited from a parent entity.

HINT

Read more in the chapter Propagate Security.

WARNING

If the child permission is different from the parent permission, the icon changes, so it is easier to find it in the tree view.

Meaning of the icons:

  •  – child permission is set to None
  •  – child permission is set to either Write or Read

Acquired from user group

If checked (), permissions are inherited from the user group when user is assigned (add) to the user group.

If not checked, permissions are set at the user level.

Basic permissions

  • None – there are no permissions. Such features are hidden from the user.
  • Read – user can only read data.
  • Write  user can read, write and change data.
  • Delete – user can read, write, change end delete data. User has full permissions.
HINT

Only one basic permission may be selected.

Write period

Back for X days - used for authorizations for single documents. This parameter specifies for how many days in the past the user can change or delete documents.

Examples:

  • 0 = the current day,
  • 1 = the current day and the day before,
  • 30 = thirty days before the current day,
  • -1 = unlimited, which means that documents can always be changed or deleted.
HINT

When write period is expired, the IRIS message opens.

Full

If checked (), user has full  (user can read, write, delete) or none permissions for an indefinite period of time for the selected authorization.

If there are existing child entities that are not explicitly set, this also takes effect.

Modified date

Date and time of the data change.

Modified By

User name of the user who modified the data.

Hint
  1. For setting multiple permissions on child entities, see the chapter Right click on Administration panel tree.
  2. To quickly set permissions, you can apply the multiselect feature by using:
  • SHIFT keyboard button and mouse click or Up and Down keyboard buttons.
  • CONTROL keyboard button and mouse click.
  • CONTROL+A: select all records.
