Merge owners

In the veterinary clinic, several people are involved in the work process who can manage the same data. It may happen that an error occurs when entering data into Owner and animal register or the same owner is created under different codes. For the purpose of merging the same owners with different codes into one code, the functionality is available Merge owners. 

The functionality is located in the menu Veterinary | Registers |​ Owner and animal register, by clicking the button Wizards in the toolbar.

Next, we will present an example of the possibility of merging data between two entities.

CASE DESCRIPTION In the veterinary clinic, the receptionist found that the owner is registered in the owner register twice, with different spellings of the name: Pia Domači and Pija Domači. The error occurred because two different animals (ferret and cat) are registered to the owner, each under its own code. For this purpose, the receptionist, to correct the error from the incorrect code (Pija Domači), transfers the data about the transactions and animals using the functionality. The process is carried out with the following steps: Searching for owner codes Merge owners Transfer transactions between entities Display of transaction transfer

1. Searching for owner codes

The responsible person at the reception wants to search for the owner's codes to arrange duplicate records or remove them. The detailed procedure for searching for an owner is described in the chapter Searching for an owner or animal in the register.

In our case, the responsible person enters in the field Search string : Domači. 

Clicks the button Search.

The search result with multiple codes for the same owner is shown in the image below. 

WARNING That the owner is registered twice, with different codes, the responsible person sees in the field Code, while the address in both entries is the same.

Closes the window Find owners and animals by clicking on .

Continues to transfer data about the animal to the correct owner code.

2. Merge owners

The responsible person now wants to remove the incorrect record: Pija Domači.

In Owner and animal register with navigation buttons, finds the record: Pija Domači.

In the toolbar, clicks the button  (Wizards). From the dropdown menu, selects the option: Merge owners.

A window Transfer transactions between entitiesautomatically opens.

Continues to enter data in the window.

3. Transfer transactions between entities

Automatically, in the window, the field Entity from fills with data about the entity we are positioned in Owner and animal register.

In our case: Pija Domači.

The responsible person in the field Entity to, selects the entity to which all data should be transferred.

From the dropdown menu, selects: Pia Domači.

If there are duplicate records in the register, we can choose which data we want to keep with the confirmation box:

• Original record
• Target record

The option: Target record is automatically selected.

To transfer the data, clicks the button Transfer. By clicking the button, the transfer of data from one entity to another begins.

A confirmation window appears: Do you really want to transfer the data?

The window closes with confirmation, clicking the button Confirm.

When the program completes the transfer, it shows an informational window: Data transfer completed!

The window Confirm.

4. Display of transaction transfer

In the record in Owner and animal register: Pija Domači, the data about the animal and transactions are deleted or transferred to the entity Pia Domači (shown in the images below).

The data about the ferret has thus been transferred to the correct code of the entity: Pia Domači.

Next, the incorrect code of the record: Pija Domači is deleted by clicking the button  (Delete record).
