Work Order Status

Work Order Status

For sake of transparency and ensuring a reliable control when executing work orders work order status is a significant characteristic. Make use of status in order to specify actual state of work order from its opening to closing stage.

There are several stages from Open - Released - In Progress - Partially Complete - and finally Complete work order passes through when processed. It follows through the above-mentioned process only. For any peculiarities moving away from the rule can be seen in the follow-up.

Different colors are used in work orders' line specifications to mark various statuses.

Customize status colors in Administration Panel | Settings | Program Parameters | Manufacturing | Work Orders - Work Order Status Colors according to user requirements..

P - Scheduled
Used for scheduled work orders. Work orders obtain P - Scheduled status when created from forward material plan. It is an optional and temporary status assigned in scheduling. All related work orders with P -Scheduled status are deleted when refreshing plans. Next step in progress of WO is O - Open. Assign it simply by selecting the command in right-click menu in Process WO window . You can issue work documentation also for work orders with status P - Scheduled thus directly jumping to R - Released status. The latter indicates released work orders. Furthermore the status can be changed to I - Allocated
. Scheduled WOs can be deactivated (reversed) and deleted.
Green
O - Open
Used for open work orders. Open a work order by launching it from plan or by using a quick release procedure. This step is obligatory. Next obligatory step is when the work order obtains the status Released. Open WOs can be deactivated (reverse) or deleted. Under certain conditions you may also close them.
TurquoiseI - AllocatedUsed for allocated work orders. Hard Allocations of materials required in processing work order are performed the moment status is changed to Allocated. They get smaller, that is, get released by issuing materials and closing them in lines of work order. Open WOs can be deactivated (reversed) or deleted. Under certain conditions you may also close them. Next step that follows is the Released status.
Blue R - Released
Used for released (launched) work orders. Displays work documentation of the work order which was launched in manufacturing process. It is assigned the status Released. Allocations of materials required in processing work order plus resource capacities for carrying out operations are performed the moment status is changed to Released. What is represented by allocated material quantities are actually the remaining quantities required. They can be found in the manufacturing specifications before trying to create WOs. They get smaller, that is, get released by issuing materials, reporting work and transferring products from work order to warehouse. Having confirmed change of status when issuing work documentation the Open status is changed to Released. Right-click to open a menu in order to change status. Open WOs can be deactivated (reversed) or deleted. Under certain conditions you may also close them. Next step that follows is the In Progress status.
Brown D - In Progress
Used for work orders which are in progress. This means that the work order is being executed. That is, material movement and/or work transactions were carried out. A specific component (material) was already issued to work order and/or production time was reported for operation. Work orders which are in progress cannot be deactivated or deleted. Under certain conditions you can close them. Next step that follows is the In Partially Finished status.
Purple E- Partially Finished
Used for work orders which were partially finished. Products were in part transferred from work order to warehouse. There are, however, additional transactions in store; and the work order is not closed. Work orders which are in progress cannot be deactivated or deleted. Next step that follows is the Closed status. To shift work order to Partially Finished status open a closed work order.
Red Z - Closed
Used for closed work orders. In order to close work orders you have to confirm movements of material issued, reported work and transfer of products. Moreover to close the work order work completed has to comply with volumes that can be found in the specification. To do this use Work Order Analysis, Manufacturing Analysis and Finished Work Analysis. Besides operating elements closing work orders consists primarily of elements for checking manufacturing costs. This is the last step in work order status progress. A closed work order can be reopened, that is, its status is then rolled back to Partially Finished.
Grey (Reversed)
Used for reversed work orders. Such work order is deactivated. You will not be able to update data:
  • Unable to access WO Work Preparation.
  • Open/Close WO button disabled in Process WO window.
  • Here you also cannot enter issued material, work completed and received products.
  • Reversed WOs do not appear in the Process WO window anymore.

Material requirements are not generated in planning. Only work orders with the status Scheduled, Open, Released can be deactivated. Such orders can only be rolled back or deleted.
