Merge animals

In the veterinary clinic, several people are involved in the work process who can manage the same data. It may happen that an error occurs when entering data into Owner and animal register. Functionality Merge animals allows the transfer of data (documents) about an animal from one ID to another ID (there are mistakenly two records for the same animal with different IDs).

The functionality is located in the menu  Veterinary | Registers |​ Owner and animal register, by clicking the button Wizards in the toolbar.

Next, we will present an example of the possibility of merging data from two animal entries.

CASE DESCRIPTION In the veterinary clinic, the receptionist found that the owner Atena Ogrski has the dog Knight registered twice in the owner and animal register, with different IDs: 70503504544441Y and 784596835625425X. For this purpose, the receptionist corrects the error or incorrect entry of the animal under ID: 784596835625425X, using the functionality, merge animals. The process is carried out with the following steps: Owner and animal register Merge animals

1.Owner and animal register

The responsible person wants to merge two animal records for the subject Atena Ogrski.

For this purpose, they select the menu Veterinary | Registers | Owner and animal register.

The first entry in the register opens.

They open the form Find owners and animals with the key combination CTRL + F or by clicking the button  (Search).

In the field Search string they enter: atena. When positioned, they click the button Select.

The Owner and animal register opens on the record of the selected owner.

They position themselves on the animal entry with the incorrect or different ID: 784596835625425X.

They proceed to select the wizard.

2. Merge animals

In the toolbar, they click the button  (Wizards). 

Several options for selecting functionality are displayed.

In our case, they select: Merge animals.

A window opens Merge animals.

The fields Owner and in the section of the window Transfer animal the field From, with the ID of the animal on which we are positioned in the Owner and animal register.

In the field To they select the correct animal entry with ID: 70503504544441Y from the dropdown list.

Automatically, in the section of the window In the case of duplicate records, the records are retained in, the program automatically checks the confirmation box: Target record. 

After the transfer, they want to delete the entry of the source animal, so they appropriately mark this in the section with the confirmation box (shown in the image below).

WARNING The transfer from animal to animal is an irreversible process. Once we merge the data under one animal, we cannot perform the process in the reverse direction!

To transfer, the responsible person clicks the button Transfer.

A confirmation window appears: Do you really want to transfer the data?

The window closes with confirmation, clicking the button Confirm.

When the program completes the transfer, it shows an informational window: Data transfer completed!

The window Confirm closes by clicking the button  (Close).

In the Owner and animal register, on the record: Atena Ogrski now only sees the correct animal entry with ID 70503504544441Y.
