Entry of animal category

Program PANETHON VET  allows each veterinary clinic to build its own animal classification system. Animal category defines a group of animals within the same species and breed, which is distinguished from another group by certain characteristics (e.g., age, sex, color,...)

The functionality is available by clicking in the menu Veterinary | Codes | Code of animal species.

TIP

You can read more about the animal category section in the PANTHEON VET Guide, Animal categories.

Below, we have prepared an example of entering an animal category for you.

description of the example

The veterinarian wants to create a new entry for the animal category: calf, for the existing species of cattle. This is done by following these steps:

  1. Opening the Code of animal species
  2. Entering a new code for the animal category

1. Opening the Code of animal species

The responsible person wants to create a new animal category in the code of animal species: Calf.

For this purpose, they select the menu Veterinary | Codes | Code of animal species.

The code of animal species opens, in which they have built their own animal classification system.

In the section Animal species they find: Cattle.

TIP

The responsible person can review the codes of animal species in the code using the toggle (Show only active). When the toggle is checked, only active records are displayed in the list; when it is empty, both active and inactive records of codes are shown.

When they click on the position of the desired animal species, the existing category records are populated in the lower section Animal categories with records of already existing categories, in our case: cow and bull.

They continue with the entry of a new animal category.

2. Entering a new code for the animal category

The responsible person positions themselves on the record of the category: bull in the section Animal categories.

Here they want to add a new category: Calf.

By clicking the navigation key on the keyboard  (Down) or by clicking the key INSERT, they create a new position.

In the column Code, a new sequential code for the animal category is automatically created, which the responsible person cannot change or edit. In our case, the code: 3 is created.

In the column Name they enter the description of the animal, in our case: Calf.

WARNING

The name must be unique, it must NOT be repeated.

In the column Data type they select the option for the type of data that will be displayed when creating a new animal from the dropdown list. They have available:

  • 1 – Dogs
  • 2 – Cats
  • 3 – Cattle
  • 4 – Horses
  • 5 – Sheep
  • 6 - Pigs
  • 7 - Other
  • 8 - Poultry.

In our case, they select: 3 - Cattle.

The checked toggle in the column Grace period indicates that the grace period is also recorded during the treatment of the animal. In our case, the responsible person does not check it.

The column Type of practice, defines whether it is Large or Small practice

In our case, we select from the dropdown list the option: Large practice, as it concerns an animal that we raise for food.

The toggle in the column Active, defines whether the code of the animal category is active or not.

Upon confirming the new record, by clicking the navigation keys on the keyboard  (Down) and (Up), the toggle is automatically marked as active.

TIP

Deleting a record or position is possible with the key combination CTRL + DELETE.
