In the General sub-panel of the Bills of materials panel you can define general information that are required for editing and functioning of Basic BOMs, Production BOMs and Plan BOMs.

Automatic Line Numbering If you select this option, the program will automatically number lines that you will enter in the bill of materials. In the Step field you can define in which step these numbers should appear (how the program should skip or omit certain numbers).
Step In this field you can define the step in which the program should skip certain numbers when automatically numbering lines in the bill of materials.
Exclusive BOM Editing If you select this option, the program will check and not allow to edit basic, production and plan bills of materials to more users.
Auto-Update Item Description If you select this option, the program will allow you to update the description of the material line for the selected item in the Description field of the General | Materials tab in bills of materials. Otherwise, the description is as in the Items register by the item.
Auto-Update Operation Description If you select this option, the program will allow you to update the description of operations in the Description field of the General | Operations tab in bills of materials. Otherwise, the description is as in the Items register by operation description.
Use Alternates for Bill of Materials Sublevels If you select this option, the program will allow you to use advanced alternatives for sublevels of BOMs. You can for each assembly set its own alternative by which the program will split a bill of materials or various other conversions like creating work orders, schedules, etc.
Check Structure After Edit If you select this option, the program will run a check for a closed loop (item is directly integrated in oneself) in between your entering a bill of material. This way error are avoided in the start.
Select Lines only among Active Items If you select this option, the program will allow you to select only active items.

Decimal Places:

Quantity The number of decimal places when editing standardized quantities for the line of a Basic BOM.

This parameter can also be used in the simple manufacturing module - see bills of materials of the Items register.

Quantity in Progress The number of decimal places when editing standardized quantities for the line of Plan and Production BOM.
Tools Qty The number of decimal places for the quantity that defines the quantity of tools  when editing lines of bills of materials.
Default Optimum Qty A Default optimum quantity when editing basic BOMs.

Materials:

Default Volume Default standardized basis for the number of BOMs when you would like to specify the standardized quantity of material line.
BOM Lines In this section you can select how the program should fill newly created material lines of basic, production  and plan bills of materials.
  • No Default Values - If you select this option, the program will not fill-in default values in the newly created BOM lines;
  • From Primary Category - If you select this option, the program will fill-in default values according to the primary category of the item from the new BOM line;
  • From Secondary Category -  If you select this option, the program will fill-in default values according to the secondary category of the item from the new BOM line.

Operations:

Default Volume A default standardized basis for the number of BOMs when you would like to specify the standardized production time of work operations.
Default Time Unit A default time unit to specify the standardized production time of work operations.
External Operations Without Scheduling If you select this option, the program will allow in the editing of BOM lines to enter external operation without scheduling. The program will also allow you to make cost estimations without scheduling.

(It is appropriate to use external operations without scheduling for cost estimations that are linked to corporates.)
BOM Lines In this section you can select how the program should fill newly created material lines of basic, production  and plan bills of materials.
  • No Default Values - If you select this option, the program will not fill-in default values in the newly created BOM lines;
  • From Primary Category - If you select this option, the program will fill-in default values according to the primary category of the item from the new BOM line;
  • From Secondary Category - If you select this option, the program will fill-in default values according to the secondary category of the item from the new BOM line.
Bonus A default value for the earnings types that will be used as bonus to work operations.

Units of Measurements:

Second In this field you can select the ID of the predefined unit of measurement which will be used to define seconds.
Minute In this field you can select the ID of the predefined unit of measurement which will be used to define minutes.
Hour In this field you can select the ID of the predefined unit of measurement which will be used to define hours.
Day In this field you can select the ID of the predefined unit of measurement which will be used to define days.
Week In this field you can select the ID of the predefined unit of measurement which will be used to define weeks.
Month In this field you can select the ID of the predefined unit of measurement which will be used to define months.
