IRIS 1002032 - Stock cannot be below zero
IRIS 1002032 - Stock cannot be below zero message appears when a user attempts to sell an item in a quantity that exceeds the current available stock. The system automatically checks the inventory levels during document entry (e.g., sales order or invoice), and if the requested quantity is greater than the available stock, the message is triggered to prevent stock inconsistencies and ensure accurate inventory management.
The purpose of this warning is to alert the user about the insufficient stock and to offer corrective options. The message helps maintain data integrity by ensuring that inventory is not oversold without appropriate actions such as quantity adjustment or initiating a replenishment process.
For the mentioned issue, IRIS offers the following options:

By selecting the Order option, the system will automatically generate a Purchase order for the item(s) whose quantity on the current document (e.g., order or invoice) exceeds the available stock.
The function works as follows:
- The system compares the required quantity on the document with the current stock level for each item.
- For every item where the required quantity is greater than the available stock, a purchase order is automatically created.
- The quantity on the purchase order is equal to the difference between the document quantity and the available stock.
- The newly created Purchase order is linked to the supplier defined in the item’s default settings or procurement parameters.
This option simplifies procurement planning by enabling users to quickly initiate restocking without manually entering purchase orders. It is especially useful in fast-paced sales or production environments where stockouts must be addressed immediately.

For example If the document requests 20 units of an item, but only 8 units are available in stock, the system will create a purchase order for 12 units of that item.
