Assigning IDs Using a Selection Field

Assigning IDs using a leading constant is more suitable in the Items register than in the Subjects register!

Assuming that subjects will be entered in the Subjects register, a 12-digit consecutive number will be used including a 10-digit tax number as constant. Enter missing data in the Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Subjects | General | Generate Subject ID box:

After clicking 000309.gif to create a new entry in the Subjects register, the constant will not be displayed in the name field (since it is entered in general subject information section). Question marks follow the assigned consecutive number:

After entering the required data (It is mandatory to enter tax number since it is used as constant) and save the record (by pressing 005067.gif or entering the next entry), it is assigned the next available consecutive number. ID prefix is represented by tax number, that is, if it does not exceed 10-digit prescribed length. Available spaces are filled in by zeroes. Let us for example say that you enter tax number 12345 and this is the first record including this tax number:

032998.jpg

Whenever assigning IDs for some record in register, you must save the record. Otherwise the ID will not be created and an error returned.

You must enter tax number. Otherwise, the following error is returned if you leave the field empty (see The field XXX is required for numbering and must be defined!).).
