RE menu

PANTHEON RE is intended to be a central point in retail units with multiple cash registers, which must receive goods and issue invoices to taxable persons.

1. Description of PANTHEON RE

The RE license allows us to track sales orders, issue prepayments and place orders directly with suppliers. Orders are linked with invoices for clarity.

In addition to the split feature, PANTHEON RE brings another novelty to the PANTHEON family, as it enables the POS cash registers to operate even in the event of a network failure and loss of connection with the database.

Because it belongs to the R family of licenses, it can be combined with SE/ME/MF licenses. In this way, the companies that, for example, use the MF licensing scheme in the master and have had to purchase MF licences for retail units until now, can replace them with the more cost-effective PANTHEON RE license.

1.1. Differences between RT and RE licenses

The RT license is intended for the operation of the cash register only and is therefore suited for computers with a lower performance. It is characterised by its minimal usage of storage and processor capacity.

The RE license is intended for the retail manager or head cash register. In addition to the cash register feature, it also has additional functions that are needed in retail. It is best to take a look at the overview of the functions of each licence:

2. Typology and operation

Each outlying retail unit must have at least one work station, which uses PANTHEON RE. The RE license controls the operation of the RT cash registers and serves as a central point of data exchange between the cash registers.

HINT

Instead of the PANTHEON RE license, you can also use an SE/ME/MF license as a retail central point, but in that case you cannot use the operating feature in case of a network outage.

Both the RT as well as the RE license must have their own database installed on the same computer (usually MSDE from the PANTHEON demo installation).

The RE database is the primary database of the retail unit and is synchronised via OTOS client with the main database in the company's headquarters.

RT databases are designed to function in case of a severed connection (local data store). Each RT cash register must have the name of the computer (database) of the RE licence entered in its parameters, so that it knows with which computer it needs to synchronise its local data.

At start-up, the RT license checks if it can connect to the RE database. If it manages to do so, then it transfers the latest register changes from the RE to its RT database, and then the cash register goes on-line and reads and writes data to and from the central RE database. If the communication with the main database is interrupted, PANTHEON RT automatically detects the interruption and starts using its local database for working without interruption. At the same time, a timer starts and at a certain interval (which can be set in settings) checks if the RE database is already available. When communication is re-established, the data between the two databases is synchronised. All issued invoices and cash receipts are transferred from RT to RE, and register corrections are transferred from RE to RT.

PANTHEON RE also includes a OTOS Client license, so that off-line synchronisation with the company's main database (headquarters) can be established.
