Foreign codes (partner codes)

Foreign codes or entity codes are the ident codes used for the ident by the company's business partners (suppliers). The problem arises when one ident is known by several codes or when different codes and titles have to be used for the same ident when dealing with business partners.
Let's further explain the meaning of foreign codes with an example.
The shop sells an oil filter (id code FILTDON15) that can be fitted as a spare part in various cars: FIAT, AUDI and MERCEDES. All three manufacturers have their own markings for it. A FIAT owner who wants an oil filter will come to the shop and will be told the FIAT factory number. The dealer has to find a suitable id to replace it. Instead of searching through catalogues, he can assign foreign codes to the id he has in his database.
