Specification

46251.gif

Items can consist of child items which you have to include in specification (that is, norms for composition of a product).

000001.gif You can create item specification for the following item types: P- own product or semi-finished product
U- compound service
C - compound goods
A – packaged goods
000001.gif You are allowed to enter 10 levels for multi-level specifications.
000001.gif Usually you cannot enter the ID of the item in specirfication. The only exception is packaged goods - type A (see Item already added. It cannot be added to itself).

A product specification is opened in the Specificafion panel. Here you can add new components (child items). That is, you can add them to up to 10 levels.

The Specification panel contains the following fields and buttons:

Quantity Enter quantity in item specification. The specification is usually created for 1 product (see example). If for example you enter 100 items, you also have to define consumption for 100 finished products in lines of specification!
Shrinkage Enter shrinkage value (for detailed treatment on how to estimate shrinkage see Shrinkage - Introduction).
Batch Set unit of measurement (U/M) from the Properties in the General panel. You can change it here and with it change also the item's primary unit of measurement. Units of measurement or batches can be set in specification (for assembly, unit in Manufacturing).
Spec Value Displays value of items in specification.
Manufacturing Enter or select work order document type for work order.
Transfer Order to WO Select method of transfer to work orders:
  • 1 Piece = 1 WO- Creates a work order for each ordered finished product. Select this option when serial number tracking is checked for item. It is used also when creating specification on-the-fly and each manufactured piece can have its own uniquely defined price (see example in the 1 Piece = 1 WO).
  • Optimum Quantity - Creates a work order for optimum quantity entered in the field on the right.
  • Total Quantity on One WO - Creates a work order for total ordered product quantity.

For more information see (How to create a WO)

(optimum quantity) Displays optimum quantity for work orders if you previously selected Optimum Quantity option for method of transfer.Entered quantity must be greater than 0!

Uses Price from Spec Check it to include retail prices (including VAT) of child items in POS (RT edition). Enter retail price in the Discount Price field.
Copy Spec
Clicking it opens a window allowing you to set criteria for copying specifications of the selected item to another item.
All data is copied from the existing item ID, except for specification.
Delete Spec
Click it to delete lines of specification.
20941.jpg Use navigation buttons to add, insert and delete lines of specification (for more information see navigation buttons).

20942.jpg – Click it to add a new line/record. 20943.jpg – On the other hand, click this button to deleta a line.

Line Contains a consecutive line number of the child item that is generated automatically. Change it at will. Lines are sorted by their consecutive numbers, so that specifications are displayed appropriately in documents. To insert lines subsequently, they are numbered with even numbers, that is, in an ascending sort order by 2 (e.g. 2, 4, 6...). 2, 4, 6...). The specification in the Datalab PANTHEON suite can consist of up to 32.000 subordinate lines.
Item Enter or select ID of a child item from the Items register. To make search easier, use function 005059.gif005715.gif to search for items. A child item can be a structured product just like multi-level specification. You cannot leave the field empty - if you do so an error is returned (see Item ID field in specification cannot be left empty!).
(Name) Displays name of the child item.
Qty Set quantity of child item that is part of the compound (parent) item. You can enter it to six decimal points. The number of decimal points displayed can be set in the Decimal Places box in Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Manufacturing | Specifications | General.
(U/M) Set unit of measurment (U/M) from Units of Measurement.
Shrink. Enter quantity of shrinkage. You can enter it to six decimal places. The number of decimal points displayed can be set in the Decimal Places box Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Manufacturing | Specifications | General. (For detailed treatment on how to calculate shrinkage see Shrinkage - Introduction).
Price The price of the child item is calculated according to the formula that can be set in the Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Items | General. The price is used for informative purposes only. Use custom price and even custom currency when valuating consumption amount of child items in register reports.
Discount Price Displays retail price (including VAT) which is used in POS (RT edition) if you previously checked Uses Price from Spec. No discounts are granted to a customer.

You can create a specification by entering all child items (components) that make up the product. First enter a line for child item and then select ID. The U/M and price fields are entered automatically from the Items register. Set quantity and click the 20942.jpg button to open a new record.

The values of child items are searched on-the-fly, according to the formula set in the Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Items | General.

Press 005059.gif 006889.gif to delete telements in specification. Deleting cannot be undone and the deleted element must be added manually in case you made a mistake.

000001.gif In order to facilitate subsequent inserting of lines, even consecutive even numbers 2, 4, 6... are assigned automatically. Therefore, there are available lines for any additional insertion of child items or for changing order in specification.
000001.gif Assign zero authorizations for specification to prevent individual users from entering and viewing this panel.
000001.gif For displaying and printing specification reports see Spec Reports.
